Q: What’s your favorite place to visit?

A: Niagara Falls early enough to watch the sunrise over it + free parking and no tourists = EPIC

Q: Favorite movie?

A: Inception

Q: Favourite restaurant or coffee shop?

A: Currently “Analog” in Calgary

Q: Any pet peeves?

A: Leaders who don’t respond to emails. Winter in September.

Q: Favorite Youth Ministry moment?

A: Preaching on a mountain in Slovakia to kids of communist raised parents. “The way you speak about Jesus makes me think He’s real now” - Jacob

Q: What’s the biggest mistake you ever made in ministry? What’d you learn?

A: I didn’t take my sin seriously as a young leader and tried to manage it on my own. I learned that you can’t lead people to health if you won’t go there yourself. “Change Before You Have To” by Rob Ketterling is a fantastic investment for your whole life.

Q: What’s the best event you’ve ever done with students?

A: Spent 4 days experiencing homelessness in our city with 16 students. We haven’t been the same since.

Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of youth pastoring?

A: Tacos

Q: What’s your biggest ministry struggle at the moment?

A: A mentorfriend challenged me years ago in a transition time and said “you were a great leader there, but that doesn’t mean you were a great leader here.” Trying to navigate living in a new province with new people with a different cultural experience than you takes a lot of prayer, humility, and bravery. It’s ok to be different so you can lead different!

Q: If you could gather all the youth pastors in our province in a room, what would you want to say to them?

A: Treat the kid that drives you the most crazy as if they will be your own children’s youth pastor. Make leadership about what you can do for the audience of your life, not about what they can build for you. “No man is greater than his prayer life” - Leonard Ravenhill

Q: Is there something that the youth pastors of the province can be praying towards for you?

A: That I won’t grow weary in doing good. Endurance and more endurance!

Q: Where can people connect with you online?

A: @calvinjforbes - instagram. Hit me with a DM, and I’ll sauce you a link with samples from my mixtape
