A: If it’s Marvel, I’m in! If it’s anything like “This is Us”, I’m out.
Q: Favourite restaurant or coffee shop?
A: Local is best, here in Camrose we have the finest coffee shop called “G.O.A.T Coffee House.” You will not be disappointed…. Also… Tims
Q: Any pet peeves?
A: When people say they’ll do something and don’t follow thru.
Q: What’s the biggest mistake you ever made in ministry? What’d you learn?
A: Not asking for help. There was a year where I felt very burnt out and couldn’t figure out why I felt the way I did. The amount of pressure an individual can manage is incredible, but sooner than later, the lid will pop off, and everything becomes an issue. With help, I later understood that not asking the body of Christ for help, is actually wrong because it was limiting their chance to grow in their talents and passions for the Lord.
Q: What’s the best event you’ve ever done with students?
A: Every Year we host the only Mega Dry Grad Party in the City. We were blessed by Legacy Auto Groups one year and gave away a car to a student. I think creating alternative events are something I love doing because it helps bring in students who would normally view church as boring.
Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of youth pastoring?
A: Like most Canadians, I enjoy playing hockey, Skiing, sledding. Or if I’m at home, I love playing with my son Lincoln, or having friends over to play some games.
Q: What’s your biggest ministry struggle at the moment?
A: Taking a brain break. I always make sure I set time aside for holidays. But overseeing many things (Youth, YA, Worship, Office) I always like to make sure things are done and get done properly. Therefore, my biggest struggle is letting my brain stay at the office.
Q: If you could gather all the youth pastors in our province in a room, what would you want to say to them?
A: Have a purpose for everything & put your relationship with Jesus first. I once heard a preacher tell me “It’s not ‘what is God’s will for your life,’ it’s simply… God’s will, and you align your life with Him. Youth Pastors all across the globe worry about “Am I doing this event right” “Is this even worth it?” My Prayer is that all across this province, God will continue to plant a passion for his name in the hearts and minds of youth workers/pastors so that we can show & tell what He has done in, and through us. And lastly, Consume God’s word like you do social media. It will transform your life.
Q: Is there something that the youth pastors of the province can be praying towards for you?
A: I would love Prayer for sleep. Let’s be honest Dads of babies… Caffeine can only do so much. Also, please pray for a continuance of fresh and fun nights for the youth and Young Adults, and that God will continue to use and lead me and my awesome family as we journey on through the business of the day.
Q: Where can people connect with you online?
A: Well, if you’ve actually read this far… you can find me on Instagram @fusion_youthminstry @thecommunityab @brydarnell
