Q: What’s your favorite place to visit?

A: Locally, Banff for sure! I love being nature.  To travel, Dublin! I’m praying God calls me there some day

Q: Favorite movie?

A: All of the Harry Potter movies hands down (sorry if that offends anyone)

Q: Favourite restaurant or coffee shop?

A: Rosso! I practically live there!

Q: Any pet peeves?

A: When people chew really loud… just stop

Q: Favorite Youth Ministry moment?

A: Seeing 3 of my students who I’ve walking with for a few years raise their hands in worship at the Vivid Conference.  It was great to see them make Jesus their own.

Q: What’s the biggest mistake you ever made in ministry? What’d you learn?

A: When I became the Youth Pastor I had such huge dreams and expectations for our students.  I envisioned our senior highs praying for our juniors and everyone just being so on fire for Jesus right on the first night.  When I came in and realized that that wasn’t where the students were at I got pretty discouraged and the student's saw that. I learned really quickly that our ministry dreams are great but we have to remember that Jesus meets us where we’re at and brings us higher, He doesn’t force us to be someone who we aren’t yet.  Realizing this actually made me love my students more because I’m able to see the small growth moments as huge victories because I’m not obsessing over a lofty dream.

Q: What’s the best event you’ve ever done with students?

A: Every year we do an Escape to Edmonton trip where we join with the YEG youth groups for a rally and have a killer time! Then we spend the next day at West Ed and just have a mini vacation from school and work.

Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of youth pastoring?

A: I really enjoy photography and looking for my next travel destination

Q: What’s your biggest ministry struggle at the moment?

A: Rest! I’m finding this to be a really busy season with finishing up my degree, starting in a new ministry and balancing life.  I don’t have much time to take some much needed Sabbath rest.

Q: If you could gather all the youth pastors in our province in a room, what would you want to say to them?

A: Be content!! Always try to grow your ministry and be more impactful but be content with your group.  Don’t try to be like the youth group down the street that has 5 more students than you. Be content and be faithful with your flock.

Q: Is there something that the youth pastors of the province can be praying towards for you?

A: In ministry it can be really easy to follow your own ideas and your own thoughts so if we could have prayer for being in line with God’s heart and passion for our students that would be amazing!  The last thing we want is to have a killer youth ministry but in the end we actually didn’t do it with Jesus.

Q: Where can people connect with you online?

A: My IG is @Brockmix and our Merge IG is @Mergestudentministry
